Volume 1, Issue 1 (Spring)

Cover story:

Collectible Tori by Aimee Lortskell

Little Blue World Online Items from very early in Tori's career have become the ultimate in collector's items, and the "Baltimore" single is our holy grail. Released in 1980 on privately-pressed 7" vinyl, it's also unarguably the cheesiest of Tori releases. In fact, the song "Baltimore" and its b-side "Walking with You" are nearly unbearable even for the most devoted fan. Despite this, the high demand and low supply of this first-ever Tori single has made its value hard to gauge.

Song Interpretation:

She Brings us Sugar by Angela Reid

At the heart of our relationship with Tori is her music. We can admire her outspokenness, her work with RAINN, her political views, but ultimately it is a more metaphoric form of communication that has drawn most of us to her, that keeps many of us here. Her life's songs enter into ours sometimes in unforeseeable ways, forming connections that may be very different from what Tori intended.

Tori Story:

I've Been Here, Silent All These Years by Beth Queen

I bought that CD with the strange name by the girl with the brightly-colored hair on my next trip to Record Town. I came home and threw it in the stereo, half-listening to it while I did my homework. She stopped me dead in the middle of my trigonometry.

Book review: A Map to Tori's Shadow Side by Karen Whyte

Owning Your Own Shadow - buy it at Amazon! As production of the next Tori Amos album is about to begin, the speculation on what it will sound like, what she will write about, or even what the title will be can be just as entertaining, and perhaps as exciting, as listening to a new album for the first time. So what can we expect from the next album? My guess, as they say, is as good as anyone else's.
