The Little Blue World Photo Contest is now closed!

We have confirmed the five winners of our photography contest and would like to congratulate:

  • 1st place: Panagiotis Provatidis
  • 2nd place: Allison Tenn
  • 3rd place: Jess

    ---

  • 1st Runner Up: Daena M. Ortego
  • 2nd Runner Up: Joey Allison

Judging this contest was quite a challenge. We received hundreds of entries, many more excellent photos than we have prizes to award or space to feature, but we will share as many of these images as we can with readers in future issues. If you submitted a photo, please advise us of any address changes. If your photo is printed, you will receive a copy of the issue in which it appears.

Thank you all for your contributions.

    Details:

Little Blue World sponsored a photo contest, submissions for which were due by February 1, 2008. A panel of LBW staff members selected 5 winning photographers. Each of the top three placeholders will receive a four issue subscription (or subscription extension) to Little Blue World and:

    • Grand Prize: a Beekeeper tourbook, signed by Tori
    • Second Prize: a copy of LBW's out-of-print first issue, signed by Tori
    • Third Prize: a copy of LBW's May 2005 issue, featuring an exclusive interview with Tori, signed by Tori.
    • In addition, two runners-up will receive vintage Venus jewelry.

As posted, submission to our contest indicated your acceptance of our hopefully complete & legally protective Official Rules, below.

    Official Rules

    1. Acceptance of Official Rules. By entering this contest, you agree to these official rules (the "Official Rules") and the decisions of the editorial staff in connection with this contest.

    2. Contest Period. This contest begins on July 1, 2007 at 12:00 AM ET and ends at 11:59 PM ET on February 1, 2008.

    3. Entry. To enter, send your qualifying photograph or photographs (see below) to Little Blue World in .jpg form to contest@little-blue-world.org or in print form to Little Blue World/ PO Box 2162 / St. Louis, MO 63158-2162 / attn: Photo Contest. Photos must be received by the end of the contest period. Photos cannot be returned. Your entry constitutes your affirmation that your photograph meets the criteria delineated below and your permission to Little Blue World to print your photograph in any upcoming issue, in whole or in cropped form, at LBW's discretion. As long as LBW is notified of changes in contact information, all photographers—whether winning photographers or not—will receive one complementary issue of any LBW featuring their photograph(s).

    4. Eligibility. To be eligible for this contest, entrants must (1) supply Little Blue World with a name and legal mailing address to which prizes may be delivered and (2) supply Little Blue World with a telephone number and current, viable e-mail address for purposes of notification. This information is held in strict confidentiality and will only be disclosed to editors as necessary to ensure proper credit for photographs and delivery of prizes or complementary issues. This contest is void where prohibited by law. Entry into this contest is your affirmation that you are legally eligible to enter.

    5. Photograph Qualifications. To be eligible for consideration, photographs must feature Tori Amos, alone or with others, and be taken with implicit consent (in a public place like a meet'n'greet or a concert) or explicit consent (such as at a photo shoot). Your submission of a photograph is your affirmation that you are the photograph and copyright holder. Photographs submitted in previous Little Blue World photo contests are not eligible. Digital submissions must be made in .jpg form. LBW prefers digital photographs of at least 300-dpi, but lower resolution photographs are not disqualified as long as they are large enough to reprint without substantial loss of quality in our fanzine. Please direct questions about photograph qualifications to LBW's editors, Nadyne Mielke and Angela Reid, at editort@little-blue-world.org.

    6. Judging. Qualifying photographs will be assembled for blind judging before a panel of Little Blue World staff, to begin on or about February 6, 2008. Photographs will be scored for composition and aesthetic appeal. Grand Prize will be awarded to the photographer with the highest rated photograph; Second Prize will be awarded to photographer with the second highest rated photograph; and so on. One prize per photographer. In the event that a photographer has more than one photograph among the top five, he or she will be given the prize accorded to his or her highest rated photograph, with his or her other prize(s) being awarded to the next highest ranked photograph(s) down the line.

    7. Winner Notification. Prize winners will be notified by phone or by email. If the potential prize winners cannot be reached after a reasonable effort has been made during ten (10) business days from the first notification attempt, such person may be disqualified, with an alternate prize winner selected in accordance with these official rules.

    8. Prizes. The prizes in this contest consist of the following: Grand Prize one Beekeeper tour book, signed by Tori, and a one-year subscription to Little Blue World. Second Prize one copy of Little Blue World's premier issue, May 2001, signed by Tori, and a one-year subscription to Little Blue World. Third Prize one copy of Little Blue World's May 2005 issue, containing an exclusive interview with Tori, signed by Tori, and a one-year subscription to Little Blue World. ^First runner-u^: one original "Venus" necklace. Second runner-up: one original "Venus" keychain. Subscription will begin with the Spring, 2008 issue of Little Blue World. Prizes will be mailed to prize winners within ten (10) business days after contact has been made and eligibility confirmed. Each entrant may win only one prize. No conversion to cash, cash redemption or substitution of the prizes is permitted.

    9. Publicity Release Terms. Except where prohibited by law, entry constitutes permission for Little Blue World to release your name on its website and in its print magazine should your entry be selected as a winner and for Little Blue World to print your name with your qualifying photograph in any issue of Little Blue World. Little Blue World will do its best to accommodate requests to use pseudonyms for photographers who wish privacy, but cannot guarantee it. Your address, phone number and e-mail address are strictly confidential and will only be disclosed to editors as necessary to ensure proper credit for photographs and delivery of prizes or complementary issues.

    10. Improper Conduct. Entrants who are discovered to be ineligible or who falsify personal information as regards to name or address may be disqualified from participation in this contest, at the sole discretion of the editors of Little Blue World.

In no event will Little Blue World, its editors and its staff be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising out of your access to and use of the contest or the downloading from and/or printing material downloaded from the contest. Some jurisdictions may not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages or exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. Check your local laws for any restrictions or limitations regarding these limitations and restrictions.

    16. Disclaimer of Warranties. The contest is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, either express or implied.
